The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has arrested a suspected terrorist logistics courier and recovered about 21,000 rounds of ammunition during a patrol operation in Cameroon’s Far North Region.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Moussa Goudja, was arrested on August 10, 2026, by personnel of the National Gendarmerie stationed at Hilé-Alifa under Sector 1 of the MNJTF.
Acting Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi Onyenonachi, said in a statement that the suspect was intercepted in the Dougoum Silio area of Logone while transporting three containers disguised as petroleum-product containers.
According to the statement, the containers were found to contain approximately 21,000 rounds of 7.62 × 39mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Goudja was transporting the ammunition for onward delivery to Ambdego when he was intercepted by security personnel.
The suspect is currently in the custody of a national security agency for further investigation.
The MNJTF Force Commander, Major General S. T. Audu, commended Cameroonian security forces in Sector 1 for the successful operation, describing it as a significant disruption of efforts to supply ammunition to terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad Basin.
He said the operation demonstrated the importance of intelligence-led patrols and strengthened cooperation among security agencies in tackling terrorist logistics networks.
The MNJTF reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting terrorist supply chains and enhancing security cooperation among countries in the Lake Chad Basin.
The task force also directed all sectors to intensify patrols and clearance operations to identify and dismantle terrorist networks and prevent the movement of weapons and other logistics to terrorist groups.
The MNJTF warned terrorist logistics couriers and their sponsors to desist from their activities, stressing that security forces would continue to pursue them regardless of the methods used to conceal or transport illicit supplies.
