Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested three suspected associates of terrorists, including two alleged logistics suppliers, during separate intelligence-led operations in Adamawa State.
The operations, conducted on August 6, involved troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion and 232 Battalion (Tactical), working alongside local hunters.
In Mubi South Local Government Area, troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion arrested two suspects identified as 39-year-old Alhaji Adamu Abba and 31-year-old Abdulhamid Shamsudeen at Wurobululde at about 9:50 p.m.
The operation followed intelligence that Abba, who allegedly operated under the guise of a businessman and Bureau de Change operator, was associated with terrorists.
Abba, a Kanuri from Banki and resident in Tasha-Gella, Mubi South, reportedly disclosed during preliminary interrogation that he had worked with terrorists for about 10 years at a camp in Ndawori, Borno State, before relocating to Cameroon and later settling in Mubi.
Troops recovered one Infinix Android phone, one Tecno button phone, one Itel power bank, a motorcycle and ₦65,000 from Abba.
Items recovered from Shamsudeen included a Tecno Spark 8P phone, one Itel power bank, ₦162,700 and 262,500 CFA francs.
In a separate operation in Garaha town, Hong Local Government Area, troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical), in conjunction with local hunters, arrested 40-year-old Mallam Badamasi Maikudi at about 6:30 p.m.
Maikudi was reportedly arrested following suspicious movements in the community and is suspected of supplying energy soft drinks and foodstuffs to a location linked to terrorists.
The three suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further investigation to determine the extent of their alleged links to terrorist networks.
