Troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical) under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested eight suspected drug peddlers during a raid operation in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and strengthen security across the North-East.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted at about 12:30 p.m. on July 6 following credible intelligence, with troops carrying out targeted raids behind the Emir’s Palace and Hong Market in Hong metropolis.
According to the sources, the operation led to the arrest of eight suspects allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.
Items recovered from the suspects included substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, tramadol tablets, Exol tablets, the illicit substance popularly known as “ice,” and several mobile phones believed to be connected to their activities.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the 232 Battalion (Tactical), where they are undergoing profiling before being handed over to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military sources described the operation as part of Operation HADIN KAI’s sustained campaign to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt drug trafficking, and deny terrorists and other criminal elements access to substances capable of fueling insecurity within the North-East theatre.
They added that although the general security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of vigilance and operational readiness to respond swiftly to emerging threats.
