Troops of the 149 Battalion (Motorised), under Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers during a strangulation operation in Borno State, recovering a vehicle loaded with materials believed to be destined for terrorist enclaves.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were intercepted at about 5:20 p.m. on July 5 during the operation.

The suspects were identified as Guni Bukar Fantimi, 25, from Arari Village in Mobbar Local Government Area, and Zanna Mohammed, 18, from Musari Village in Maiduguri.

According to the sources, the suspects were travelling in a Golf vehicle with registration number BORNO NGL-904BK when they were arrested.

Items recovered from the vehicle included a carton of air pumps, a carton of glass cups, 20 containers of four-litre paint, eight cartons of roofing nails, three hand saws, 10 tubes of zinc adhesive, four cartons of instant glue, six cartons of spray paint, 10 rolls of white tape, 20 cutlasses, 10 bundles of rope, 10 pairs of rain boots, 28 pairs of footwear, 10 bags of nails, four solar-powered fans, one solar panel, 20 bundles of roofing zinc sheets, two mobile phones, and ₦47,650 in cash.

Military sources said the suspects and the recovered items are currently in the custody of the 149 Battalion (Motorised) for further investigation to determine the intended destination of the materials and establish possible links to Boko Haram logistics networks.

The arrest is part of ongoing intelligence-driven strangulation operations aimed at disrupting the supply chains sustaining terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

Security sources added that although the general security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it remains unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of vigilance and operational readiness.
