The Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with the Oshimili North and Oshimili South Local Government Councils, has launched a coordinated enforcement operation against unauthorized parks and garages operating across the Asaba metropolis, dismantling nine illegal facilities and impounding 45 vehicles.

The operation, which commenced on Monday, July 20, targeted illegal transport parks identified as contributing to traffic congestion, insecurity, public disorder, and the unchecked movement of parcels used as waybills, which security agencies say could facilitate criminal activities.

The enforcement exercise saw the dismantling of nine unauthorized parks located at key areas across the state capital. These include one park at Pinnacle Junction along Okpanam Road, two at the Summit area, three at the Koka area, and three others around the Head Bridge axis linking Delta and Anambra states.

Police said a total of 45 vehicles were impounded during the operation and handed over to the relevant Local Government authorities for possible prosecution in line with existing laws and regulations.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, said the crackdown forms part of a broader strategy to restore order within the transport sector and ensure that only duly registered parks and garages operate across the state.

He assured residents that similar enforcement exercises would be extended to other parts of Delta State as part of efforts to improve public safety, enhance traffic management, and curb criminal activities associated with illegal transport operations.

The Police Command called on transport operators, motorists, and residents to support the initiative by complying with established regulations and patronizing only approved parks and garages. It also urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in sustaining a safer and more orderly environment across the state.
