Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected bandit during a snap checkpoint operation in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recovering an AK-47 rifle magazine, mobile phones and other items from the suspect.

Sources disclosed that the suspect was apprehended at about 6:04 p.m. on May 8 by troops of 2 Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dogon Dawa.

The arrest reportedly followed a snap roadblock mounted by troops at the Damari area of Birnin Gwari, where the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu, was intercepted while riding a motorcycle.

During a search conducted on the suspect, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle magazine, three mobile phones, suspected Indian hemp and other personal belongings.

According to security sources, a preliminary examination of the suspect’s mobile phones revealed several incriminating photographs allegedly showing him dressed in military-style attire and posing with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.

The suspect and all recovered items were subsequently moved to the battalion headquarters for further investigation and necessary action.

Military authorities stated that although the security situation in the area remains calm, it is still highly unpredictable, prompting intensified surveillance and monitoring operations across the axis.

Operation Fansan Yamma troops have continued sustained offensive and intelligence-led operations across parts of the North-West in efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region.
