The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and violent crimes with the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the operation followed a distress report received in the early hours of May 7, 2026, concerning an attack carried out by armed hoodlums in the community on the night of May 6.

The attackers were said to have invaded the area, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents before storming the homes of two individuals and abducting them to an unknown destination.

The statement explained that upon receiving the report, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, working in collaboration with other security agencies and local community youths, swiftly mobilised to the area and launched coordinated operations that led to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the incident.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

Police said the operation also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used during the attack.

The Force further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment at a medical facility.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the operatives involved in the operation.

The IGP described the success as a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in combating violent crimes across the country.

He also appreciated the support of sister security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
