Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA under Headquarters 17 Brigade have foiled a planned terrorist attack on Kaddanya Village in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation followed a distress call received at about 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, reporting the convergence of suspected terrorists around Kaddanya Village.
According to a Special Situation Report from Headquarters 17 Brigade, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda immediately responded to the alert and mobilised towards the area.
The troops operated in conjunction with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force from the Kankia/Charanchi area and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).
The joint security team successfully foiled the suspected terrorists’ planned attack before they could execute their operation. Following the intervention, the troops exploited the area and maintained an aggressive presence through patrols and domination of the surrounding communities and likely routes of movement.
The sustained patrols were aimed at preventing the terrorists from regrouping or attempting another attack within the area.
After successfully securing the general area, the troops returned safely to their base at about 3:10 p.m.
The latest operation underscores the importance of rapid response and inter-agency cooperation in countering terrorist threats and protecting communities across Katsina State.
Security forces are expected to sustain patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent renewed attempts by criminal elements to attack communities or disrupt the safety of residents.
