IGP Disu Approves Promotion of 17,952 Junior Police Officers Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across the country as part of efforts to boost personnel welfare, reward diligence, and enhance professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who said the promotion exercise cuts across commands and formations nationwide.

According to the statement, the promoted officers include 165 Sergeants elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals promoted to Sergeant, and 17,714 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.

The IGP said timely promotion remains a critical aspect of the Force’s human resource management strategy and an important tool for motivating officers to remain dedicated to their constitutional responsibilities.

He noted that the advancement of deserving personnel reflects the commitment of the current police leadership to merit, career progression, and institutional development, adding that the exercise is aimed at strengthening morale and encouraging excellence among officers.

Congratulating the newly promoted personnel, IGP Disu urged them to view their elevation as a call to greater responsibility and service. He charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by demonstrating professionalism, discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

The police chief further emphasized the need for the officers to remain committed to the rule of law and the highest standards of policing as they take on their new responsibilities.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to rewarding hard work, promoting excellence, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in law enforcement and public safety.
