Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded significant operational successes in Benue State, rescuing kidnapped victims and arresting suspected terrorists in separate coordinated operations.

In Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, troops responded swiftly to a distress call on April 25 at about 10:20 a.m., following reports of a suspected terrorist attack on residents of Michihe community. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the attackers in a firefight, overwhelming them with superior firepower and forcing them to flee the scene.

During the operation, two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued and safely reunited with their families. Security sources confirmed that follow-up operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while patrols have been intensified to prevent further attacks in the area.

In a separate operation in Ukum Local Government Area, troops carried out a targeted offensive in the early hours of April 25 at about 12:01 a.m. Acting on intelligence, troops deployed at Kyado raided a suspected terrorist enclave, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects.

The suspects were apprehended without resistance and are currently in military custody for further investigation.

Military sources stated that the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across affected communities in Benue State, assuring residents of continued security presence and proactive measures to curb criminal activities.
