Nigerian troops have recorded a series of security operations across Kaduna, Zamfara, and Katsina States, resulting in the arrest of a suspected criminal, recovery of weapons, and response to multiple terrorist attacks.
In Kaduna State, troops of Operation Forest Yakin (OPFY) apprehended a suspect at about 12:00 p.m. on April 26 during a routine stop-and-search operation at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sabon Birni in Igabi Local Government Area. The suspect was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol, a cutlass, a mobile phone, and a sum of N154,800. He is currently in military custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops of 1 Brigade under Operation Fansan Yamma responded to a terrorist attack at Gidan Gabi village in Gusau Local Government Area on April 25.
Acting on intelligence, troops in collaboration with local vigilantes swiftly mobilised to the scene and pursued the fleeing attackers. However, their advance was hindered by a river obstacle, allowing the assailants to escape.
Three local hunters were killed in the attack, while several cattle were rustled. Security forces have since intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent further incidents.
Similarly, in Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade responded to an attack in Sayaya village, Matazu Local Government Area, at about 4:15 p.m. on April 25.
Upon arrival, troops discovered that two civilians had been killed and two others injured by the attackers. The troops pursued the fleeing assailants and engaged them along their escape route, leading to the recovery of a motorcycle believed to have been used by the criminals. The attackers reportedly fled with possible injuries. The wounded victims were evacuated for medical treatment, while security operations have been intensified in the area.
Military sources reaffirmed that troops remain vigilant and committed to ongoing operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing security across affected regions.
