Joint troops under Operation UDO KA have carried out a pre-dawn offensive on a suspected IPOB enclave in Ajali Forest, located in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Security sources said the operation, conducted around 4:30 a.m. on April 27, involved troops of the 82 Division Garrison alongside personnel from the 103 Battalion (Reinforced) and the 197 Special Forces Battalion, acting on credible intelligence.
During the operation, troops reportedly made contact with armed elements at the location and engaged them in a firefight. The suspects were subsequently overpowered and forced to flee deeper into the forest.
Following the encounter, troops moved to exploit the area, destroying all identified structures within the camp, including a shrine believed to be used by the group.
Items recovered from the scene include three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three cartridges, seven victim-operated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and one locally fabricated hand grenade.
Sources further disclosed that no additional contact was made during the exploitation phase. Troops have since maintained a sustained presence in the area to prevent the fleeing suspects from regrouping or reoccupying the camp.
