Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded fresh operational successes against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, neutralising insurgents attempting to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs), arresting suspected terrorists and logistics suppliers, and disrupting terrorist support networks across the North East.

The latest breakthroughs form part of sustained counter-terrorism and counter-IED operations being conducted across the theatre in a renewed effort to deny insurgents freedom of movement and action.

In one of the operations, troops of OPHK successfully ambushed terrorists attempting to emplace Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Konduga–Kawuri axis. The troops engaged the insurgents with decisive firepower, triggering an explosion that led to the neutralisation of two terrorists.

Following the encounter, troops exploited the area and recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene.

In a related counter-IED operation, troops also discovered and safely detonated an IED planted along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, averting potential casualties and ensuring the safe movement of commuters and security personnel along the route

The operation further underscored the military’s sustained efforts to prevent terrorists from using explosive devices to target troops and civilians within the region.

Troops also recorded notable successes in Adamawa State, particularly in Mubi North Local Government Area, where personnel of OPHK under Sector 4, in conjunction with local hunters, carried out an offensive operation that led to the arrest of three Boko Haram/ISWAP members.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had previously gathered intelligence on troops’ locations and operational activities for the terrorists. The suspect also reportedly confessed to participating in a recent attack in which the insurgents suffered heavy casualties.

All three suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

In another development, troops operating at Mainok market arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered livestock, mobile phones, and cash, further weakening the supply chain sustaining terrorist operations in the region.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have continued to maintain aggressive operational pressure across their Area of Responsibility, effectively denying criminal elements the freedom to operate.

According to military authorities, all the operations were conducted successfully without incident, while troops’ morale and combat efficiency remain high.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations in the overall security and economic interest of the North East region.
