Troops of 114 Battalion (Mobile) have identified a suspected terrorist drone launch position during a fighting patrol in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the patrol was conducted at about 6:30 a.m. on April 20 following intelligence reports of drone activity and bush burning by suspected ISWAP/JAS elements operating from the Damboa axis.
According to the sources, troops advanced to the location to verify the intelligence and, in the course of the operation, discovered and marked a site believed to be used by the terrorists for launching drones.
The identified position has been earmarked for a potential ambush operation as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist surveillance and operational capabilities.
Security authorities further stated that patrols and monitoring have been intensified in the area to prevent further hostile activities and deny the terrorists freedom of movement.
