The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has successfully rescued 14 victims abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.
The victims regained their freedom following sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated inter-agency efforts targeting criminal networks operating within the maritime corridor. Security operatives, acting on credible intelligence, intensified surveillance and launched targeted operations across identified flashpoints, culminating in the safe rescue of all victims without injury.
Authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical checks and debriefing procedures before being reunited with their families.
Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed in a statement that the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the joint security team for the operation’s success, describing it as a reflection of effective intelligence-driven policing and inter-agency collaboration.
The police assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the abduction, reiterating their commitment to ensuring safety along Nigeria’s waterways.
