The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has lauded the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its support in addressing career stagnation and strengthening the operational capacity of the Corps.

Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said the administration’s commitment has significantly improved personnel morale and discipline nationwide. His remarks were delivered by the Deputy Commandant General, Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, during a ceremony held at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.

The event was organised in honour of Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Hammed Abodurin, who is set to retire on May 1, 2026. It also featured the launch of six books authored by the retiring officer.

Audi described Abodurin as a symbol of intellectual leadership, highlighting his three-time recognition as Best State Commandant. He stressed that effective service goes beyond the use of force, underscoring the importance of ideas, research, and continuous learning in security operations.

“Service delivery is not only about carrying rifles but also about carrying ideas,” he said.

According to NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, two of the books—Daily Security Tips for School Children and Paramilitary Ethics: The Essential Standard in Paramilitary Operations—were reviewed at the event, alongside four other titles: Language of Security Operations, Public Relations in Security Operations, From Voluntary to Mandatory Service, and Why Journalists Misbehave.

The ceremony attracted senior figures from the security and academic communities, including representatives of the Nigeria Correctional Service, as well as top military officers.

In his remarks, Abodurin expressed appreciation to the NSCDC leadership and his former commands in Ondo and Ogun states, noting that the Corps provided him the platform to excel in both security service and intellectual pursuits.
