The Ondo State Government has announced a landmark initiative to digitise all its laws and make them freely accessible to the public through electronic platforms, marking a major leap toward transparency, improved access to justice, and digital governance in Nigeria.
The announcement was made by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olukayode Ajulo, following a high-level meeting with Ope Olugasa, Managing Director of LawPavilion Business Solutions Limited.
Describing the initiative as a “game-changing milestone,” Ajulo said the project would transform how citizens, legal professionals, and policymakers interact with the laws of Ondo State. He noted that the move positions the state as a national leader in technology-driven, people-focused justice delivery.
LawPavilion to Drive Digitisation
In a significant commitment, LawPavilion has pledged to undertake the full digitisation of Ondo State laws. This includes electronic publication, hosting, and ensuring perpetual public access via its platform.
Olugasa said the initiative goes beyond business, describing it as a personal contribution to his roots and a step toward building a more efficient and modern justice system. He added that the company would deploy its advanced LegalTech platform, LAWPAVILION PRIME, to ensure the laws are searchable, accessible, and user-friendly at all times.
Public-Private Collaboration
The meeting, held in Abuja, also had in attendance key stakeholders including Grace Olowoporoku, Administrative Secretary of the Office of Public Defenders; Helen Falowo, Director of Library Services at the Federal Ministry of Justice; and Bade Owate, Special Assistant to the Attorney General.
Expanding Access to Justice
According to Ajulo, the initiative will eliminate reliance on bulky and expensive printed law reports by providing instant online access for lawyers, judges, students, civil servants, and the general public.
He added that the project is expected to improve efficiency across the justice system, reduce delays in litigation, strengthen the rule of law, and align Ondo State with global best practices in e-governance.
“It stands as a powerful model of public-private partnership driven by shared values rather than profit,” he said.
Ajulo concluded that the initiative marks a new chapter in the state’s legal history, emphasizing that beyond digitising laws, it represents a broader effort to democratise justice and build a more transparent and equitable society.
