The Lagos State Police Command has debunked circulating reports of an alleged cult-related clash in parts of the state, reassuring residents that there is no threat to public safety.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command clarified that areas mentioned in the rumours—including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga—remain calm and under firm security control.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, immediately ordered proactive deployments following the initial reports. Police personnel and operational assets were swiftly mobilised to the identified locations and surrounding communities to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.
The Command disclosed that intensified patrols, strategic positioning of officers, and increased police visibility have been implemented across the affected areas to deter criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.
Residents were urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear, as adequate security measures have been put in place. The Police also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing panic, advising the public to rely only on official and credible sources.
While reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and order, the Command encouraged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines or the nearest police station.
