The Former Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations in Delta State, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

The honour was bestowed during the 3rd edition of the NIPR Week, tagged CROC City 2026, hosted by Uba Sani in Kaduna. The annual event brought together communication professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country to discuss strategies for advancing professionalism and ethical standards in public relations.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who attended the event, charged public relations practitioners to play a critical role in communicating government reforms and policies. He stressed the importance of clear, strategic messaging in building public trust, confidence, and national unity.

Adejobi’s elevation to Fellow is widely regarded as recognition of his contributions to strategic communication and public engagement within the Nigeria Police Force. Over the years, he has served in key public relations roles, including Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Lagos State Command, Zone 2 Command, and later Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters.

He served as Force PRO under former Inspectors-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba and Kayode Egbetokun.

During his tenure, Adejobi spearheaded reforms aimed at strengthening the police communication framework and improving public perception. Notably, he introduced a policy mandating all Police PROs to become certified members of the NIPR, a move designed to boost professionalism, credibility, and adherence to global best practices.

The conferment is seen as a milestone in Adejobi’s career, highlighting his commitment to excellence in public communication and institutional image management within Nigeria’s security sector.
