Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim during a swift response operation along a highway in Benue State.

Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on April 20 along the Olojo–Ojantelle road in Apa Local Government Area.

The troops, deployed under Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke and operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ugbokpo, responded promptly to a distress call reporting ongoing kidnapping activities along the axis.

According to the sources, upon arrival at the scene, the patrol team discovered an abandoned vehicle, suggesting that the kidnappers fled after sighting the advancing troops.

The victim was found unharmed and immediately rescued.

Military sources further confirmed that the rescued individual and the recovered vehicle were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ugbokpo Division, for further investigation and necessary action.

Authorities noted that the swift intervention thwarted the abductors’ plans and prevented them from escaping with the victim.

The Nigerian Army reassured residents of its sustained commitment to securing highways and vulnerable communities through continuous patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing kidnapping and related crimes in the state.
