Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intensified coordinated offensives against terrorist enclaves across Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states, killing at least six terrorists and recovering several weapons and logistics during multiple operations.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this in a press statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
According to the statement, troops launched sustained operations during the week as part of efforts to protect communities, neutralise terrorists and dominate the North-West operational environment.
In Sokoto State, troops of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII reportedly made two separate contacts with terrorists at Magonho Forest on March 25, 2026, killing three bandits.
The operation also led to the recovery of three AK-47 rifles and motorcycles.
In Zamfara State, troops successfully laid an ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari Village road on the same day, where they neutralised two terrorists and forced others to flee.
Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 55 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one Baofeng radio, two mobile phones and one motorcycle.
Later that day, terrorists reportedly attempted a reprisal attack on Kaida Village, accusing residents of collaborating with security forces.
However, troops responded swiftly, killing another terrorist and recovering an additional AK-47 rifle.
In a separate operation, troops acting on credible intelligence carried out a clearance mission in Dutsi Village, Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Army said the sustained pressure forced fleeing terrorists to abandon one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, troops responding to intelligence on the presence of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group in Giron Masa community, Shanga Local Government Area, were ambushed about 500 metres before reaching the village.
Despite the ambush, the military said troops remained undeterred, noting that reinforcements and combat enablers had since been deployed to the area.
It added that intelligence-led operations were ongoing to track and neutralise the fleeing terrorists.
The Army reaffirmed that 8 Division/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to degrading terrorist capabilities, protecting law-abiding citizens and sustaining pressure on criminal elements across the North-West.
