The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Lagos and Ogun states has declared its total support for the newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, describing him as the right officer for the job.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the PCRC Zone 2 Command Caretaker Committee for PCRC leadership in Lagos and Ogun states, Alhaji Uthman Jagunmo, the committee said it received Jimoh’s appointment with great confidence, citing his proven professionalism, operational competence, and track record in crime prevention and control.
Jagunmo noted that AIG Jimoh’s distinguished service in the Lagos State Police Command and his wealth of experience make him well-suited for the strategic responsibility of overseeing police operations in Zone 2.
He said the committee strongly condemned calls by activist Omoyele Sowore for Jimoh’s replacement, describing the demand as unwarranted and an attempt to undermine the institutional integrity and established procedures of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the PCRC, the deployment and posting of police officers remain administrative matters that should be handled strictly by the appropriate authorities, without interference from what it described as political jobbers and commercial activists seeking relevance.
The committee maintained that AIG Jimoh is “a round peg in a round hole,” stressing that his competence aligns with the policing demands of Zone 2, which covers Lagos and Ogun states.
It added that at a time when strategic leadership and stability are critical to public safety, Jimoh remains a dependable figure capable of consolidating gains in security and community policing across the zone.
The PCRC further called on stakeholders and residents in Lagos and Ogun to rally behind the new AIG to enable him to discharge his duties effectively in the interest of peace, security, and community development.
