Troops Foil ISWAP Infiltration at Bitta, Inflict Fresh Losses on Terrorists

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have foiled an attempted infiltration by suspected ISWAP terrorists at Bitta in Sector 1, dealing what military authorities described as another decisive blow to the insurgents.

According to a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the failed attack occurred when the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the troops’ location in what was seen as a desperate move to regain momentum after recent battlefield setbacks.

He said the troops, having anticipated the move, put in place a deliberate offensive-defensive battle plan ahead of the attempted assault.

“As the terrorists advanced towards the position, the troops launched coordinated spoiling actions that effectively disrupted the assault formation while simultaneously manoeuvring to cut off the terrorists’ withdrawal routes,” the statement said.

The military said the attackers were met with overwhelming resistance and superior firepower, forcing them into a disorganised retreat while suffering significant casualties.

Lt.-Col. Uba noted that the latest failed infiltration at Bitta marked the third major setback suffered by the terrorists within 24 hours, following earlier failed attacks at Banki and Azir Bridge.

He said the successive defeats underscored the sustained operational pressure being mounted by troops of Operation HADIN KAI across the North-East theatre.

According to him, the continued offensive operations have significantly restricted the terrorists’ freedom of movement and denied them opportunities to exploit propaganda narratives.

The statement added that troops remain firmly in control of all positions, maintaining high morale, strong tactical coordination and sustained offensive momentum across the operational environment.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience, urging them to sustain the current operational tempo in the fight against terrorism.
