Troops of the 82 Division Garrison operating under Operation Eastern Sanity have rescued 12 kidnapped victims in Ette Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The rescue operation was carried out on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a distress call reporting the abduction of several residents by suspected kidnappers in the area.
Security sources disclosed that the troops swiftly mobilised alongside police operatives, Forest Guards, and members of the local Neighbourhood Watch to the suspected hideout where the victims were believed to have been taken.
On arrival, the troops launched aggressive search operations and fighting patrols across the surrounding forested area to track down the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.
Faced with the rapid deployment and superior combat readiness of the troops, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their captives and fled the scene.
During the follow-up operation to secure the area, all 12 victims were successfully rescued without injuries.
Security operatives also arrested two suspects believed to be linked to the kidnapping gang. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to help security agencies track down other members of the criminal network.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Eastern Sanity have intensified patrols and surveillance across the area to prevent further criminal activities and reassure residents of their safety.
Military authorities noted that the successful rescue highlights the troops’ continued operational pressure on criminal elements and their commitment to protecting lives and property while restoring confidence among communities in the region.
