The Rivers State Police Command has announced robust security arrangements across the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Sallah celebration.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command said personnel and operational assets have been strategically deployed to key locations including Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, relaxation centres and other public venues across the state.
According to the statement, the security deployment is part of efforts to protect lives and property during the festive period and to prevent any disruption of public peace.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of security agencies throughout the celebrations.
He also advised members of the public to avoid reckless driving, unlawful gatherings and any activity capable of undermining public order, while calling on parents and guardians to properly supervise their children and wards.
The police chief warned that anyone found engaging in criminal acts such as thuggery, cultism, armed robbery or violence would be promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents were also encouraged to report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact lines.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining security before, during and after the festivities, while wishing Muslim faithful a joyful, peaceful and fulfilling Sallah celebration.
