Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks launched in the early hours of Monday on several communities on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State.

Security sources told SpyeTV that suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters struck at about 12:30 a.m., targeting Kofa, Dala, Bulamari, and Ajilari Cross in what appeared to be a coordinated assault.

In response, Nigerian Air Force fighter jets, working in close support with ground troops, were swiftly mobilised to engage the attackers and prevent them from advancing into the affected communities.

Residents of the targeted areas were reportedly thrown into panic as intense gunfire echoed across parts of the city, triggering fears of a major security breach. Witnesses said many residents in Dala, Bulamari, and Ajilari Cross fled their homes in search of safety as the situation escalated.

A source in Bulamari, near the Dala community, said troops moved quickly and were able to push back the insurgents before they could establish a foothold.

Security sources further confirmed that troops were actively engaging the terrorists, particularly around Kofa, a community on the outskirts of Maiduguri, where one of the attacks was concentrated.

As of the time of filing this report, the military had not issued an official statement on casualties or the full extent of the attempted attacks. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were also yet to be independently verified.

However, the swift response by Operation HADIN KAI troops, backed by air support from the Nigerian Air Force, appears to have prevented what could have been a significant assault on vulnerable communities around the Borno State capital.

The latest attempted attacks underscore the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups in the North-East despite sustained military offensives in the region.
