The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged bandit attack threat on Kungaboku Community and neighbouring Paze, describing the letter behind the panic as the handiwork of “mischief makers.”
The clarification follows publications circulated on March 15 and 16, 2026, claiming that suspected bandits sent a threatening letter through a student of a private school in Kungaboku, warning of an impending attack in retaliation for the killing of one of their commanders during a recent security operation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said investigations conducted by the command showed that the letter did not originate from bandits.
“Following thorough investigation into the matter, the Command wishes to inform the general public that the said letter originated from mischief makers seeking to spread fear and panic within the community for their mischievous purposes,” the statement said.
The command urged residents of Kungaboku, Paze and surrounding communities to disregard the letter and remain calm, while maintaining vigilance and staying security conscious.
To reassure residents, the FCT Police Command said personnel have been deployed in and around the affected communities to prevent any possible attack and strengthen public confidence in ongoing security efforts.
The police also reiterated their commitment to the protection of lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory, urging members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities.
