The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has intensified its campaign to cripple terrorist logistics and financing networks, recording a major breakthrough with the recovery of nearly Forty Million Naira and critical supplies intended for insurgent operations.
In a statement issued on Monday, the OPHK Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the latest operations followed recent successful defensive actions by troops in Pulka and Madara-Girau, with the force now transitioning into deliberate “logistics strangulation” efforts aimed at weakening terrorist sustainment capacity across the theatre.
According to him, at about 5:30 a.m. on February 16, 2026, troops of Sector 1, working alongside Vigilante Forces, conducted a coordinated night ambush along a known terrorist crossing route used by ISWAP fighters moving from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria. The insurgents, unaware of the troops’ presence, reportedly ran into effective enfilade fire and were forced to retreat in disarray.
Subsequent exploitation of the contact area led to the recovery of a large cache of logistics supplies believed to be meant for terrorist resupply. The interception is expected to significantly disrupt their operational reach and sustainment capacity in the area. Troops have since maintained control of the location and are consolidating gains for further operations.
In a related development, troops at the Forward Operating Base Chabbal Checkpoint intercepted a suspicious vehicle carrying five occupants. During the search, security personnel recovered approximately ₦37 million concealed in bags, alongside several mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist activities.
The military described the operation as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial channels believed to be supporting insurgent logistics and operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba noted that the coordinated actions underscore OPHK’s determination to deny terrorists freedom of movement, disrupt their funding streams, and dismantle their supply architecture. He added that sustained pressure across key transit routes and support networks is part of a deliberate strategy to weaken terrorist groups and limit their ability to launch attacks.
The Military High Command commended the vigilance, professionalism, and morale of troops and other security agencies, reiterating that Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to frustrating terrorist ambitions and restoring lasting peace and stability in the North East.
