The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Ridwan Disu, has formally assumed office as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, succeeding IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (Rtd), PhD, NPM, who served as the 22nd indigenous IGP from June 19, 2023, to February 24, 2026.

Disu, born on April 13, 1966, hails from Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State. He brings to the position decades of operational, investigative, intelligence, and administrative experience, having served in several strategic roles across the Nigeria Police Force

The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun, for his contributions to modernising and strengthening the Force.

In his message, the Acting IGP reassured officers, stakeholders, and the public of his commitment to consolidating ongoing reforms, strengthening internal security, enhancing community policing, and advancing the Force’s mandate of protecting lives and property in line with global best practices. 

He also called for sustained public support and cooperation as the new leadership works to deepen professionalism, discipline, and service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.
