The visit, which took place at the Gombe State Police Command Headquarters at exactly 1:40 pm, formed part of a familiarisation and goodwill engagement aimed at deepening police–community partnership through the PCRC framework.
According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the State PCRC Chairman, Adamu Alhaji Abubakar, the delegation included members of the PCRC Women and Youth Committees, underscoring inclusiveness and grassroots engagement. The team was formally received by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command.
Prayers, Welcome and Commitment to Partnership
The engagement commenced with opening prayers, followed by remarks from the State PCRC Chairman, who offered prayers for the PCRC National Chairman and the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. He prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance for police leadership at all levels.
Speaking on behalf of the PCRC, Comrade Ubale Garba explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally welcome the new Commissioner of Police to Gombe State and to express the readiness of the PCRC family to work closely with him.
He emphasized that the PCRC operates across the state in support of the Police, noting that “the success of the Police is the success of the PCRC.”
He further highlighted the activities of the Women and Youth Committees, inaugurated over a year ago, which actively engage communities to promote positive values, civic responsibility and cooperation with law enforcement.
Zonal Support and Police Response
The Zonal Deputy Chairman, PCRC Zone 12, commended the Nigeria Police Force and the PCRC for sustained efforts in building trust across communities within the zone. He reaffirmed PCRC’s commitment to continuous partnership and officially welcomed the Commissioner of Police to the state.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation for the visit, describing the PCRC in Gombe State and Zone 12 as one of the most active and well-organised in the country. He acknowledged the value of the committee’s contributions to community engagement and assured members that their efforts would not be taken for granted.
The Commissioner added that he had commenced courtesy visits to traditional and community leaders across the state as part of his familiarisation process, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to effective policing.
Strengthening Police–Community Relations
The courtesy visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and the PCRC to mutual respect, cooperation and inclusive community engagement. It also set a positive tone for sustained collaboration with the newly posted Commissioner of Police in advancing peace, security and development in Gombe State.
