Security operatives recently apprehended Idris Abubakar, President of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah, alongside other senior figures of the association. The arrests, followed intelligence-led investigations linking the suspects to armed bandit networks operating within and around the state.
According to security sources, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly played facilitative roles in several kidnapping incidents, acting as intermediaries between criminal elements and local networks. One official described the development as deeply troubling, noting that those arrested are elderly community leaders who should ordinarily be promoting peace and coexistence.
“These are men above 60 years of age—voices that should calm tensions, not inflame them. Their alleged actions represent a grave moral failure and a direct threat to public safety,” the official said.
