The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command (FOC ENC), Rear Admiral Chidozie Donald Okehie, on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, commissioned a newly constructed 20-room Senior Rates’ Lodge at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny, Rivers State.
Rear Admiral Okehie was accompanied to the ceremony by the Command Operations Officer, Rear Admiral Chinonyerem Oji, and the Commander NNS PATHFINDER, Rear Admiral Cajethan Aniaku. The accommodation project, which commenced on 22 August 2025 and was completed on 30 December 2025, was executed to enhance personnel welfare and resolve long-standing accommodation challenges at the Base.
The commissioning ceremony featured the formal unveiling of the facility, followed by a comprehensive inspection led by the Commanding Officer, FOB Bonny, Commodore Emmanuel Fingesi. The modern lodge is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of senior rates, with positive implications for morale and operational effectiveness.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Okehie commended Commodore Fingesi for his initiative, foresight, and strong commitment to the welfare of personnel. He charged the beneficiaries to ensure proper use and maintenance of the facility, stressing that this would justify the resources, effort, and sacrifices invested in the successful completion of the project.
The commissioning underscores the Nigerian Navy’s continued emphasis on personnel welfare as a critical component of operational readiness and mission success.
