The President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has commended the Nigerian Navy for its sustained efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s coastal and offshore corridors.
He gave the commendation when the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC), Rear Admiral Abdullahi Mustapha, paid him a courtesy visit at the Group’s corporate headquarters in Lagos.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Navy’s deliberate drive to deepen strategic partnerships with key private-sector stakeholders to bolster maritime security and advance national economic development.

Dangote described maritime security as fundamental to industrial development and expressed the Dangote Group’s readiness to support mutually beneficial initiatives focused on capacity building, improved security coordination, and national development.
During the engagement, Rear Admiral Mustapha highlighted the pivotal role of the private sector in sustaining maritime security and economic growth.
He noted the Dangote Group’s significant footprint across Nigeria’s refinery, maritime, and shipping sectors, stressing that the Dangote Refinery—situated within the Western Naval Command’s Area of Responsibility—remains a strategic national asset requiring collective security efforts.
The FOC reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment, under the leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, to enhanced collaboration, intelligence sharing, and operational support. These measures, he said, are essential to ensuring the safe movement of goods and personnel while countering piracy, crude oil theft, smuggling, and other maritime crimes.
Discussions during the visit also explored prospective partnerships aimed at reinforcing a secure maritime environment conducive to economic prosperity and sustainable growth.
