The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command (ATC), Esen Paul Efanga, has conducted an operational assessment visit to NAF Base Kainji, reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve to sustain air dominance in ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
The visit, which took place on 29 January 2026, was aimed at evaluating operational effectiveness, force protection measures, and mission execution of units supporting current operations. It formed part of the Nigerian Air Force’s continuous command-level oversight designed to enhance readiness and ensure the precision employment of air power across theatres of operation.
During the assessment, the AOC reviewed air operations conducted by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sector 3, where he commended both air and ground crews for their professionalism, discipline, and sustained high operational tempo. A precision show-of-force mission was also executed during the visit, underscoring the Service’s ability to project power decisively and maintain air superiority within the area of responsibility.
Air Vice Marshal Efanga noted that NAF Base Kainji remains postured from a position of strength, with personnel and platforms maintained at a high state of readiness to deliver decisive air power at short notice. He emphasized that this posture reflects the Service’s firm control of the operational environment and its commitment to denying hostile elements any freedom of action.
Quoting the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the AOC reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force will continue to apply air power “decisively, relentlessly, and with precision” to secure the nation and protect critical assets. He assured Nigerians that the Service remains resolute, fully in control of the airspace, and committed to sustaining operational tempo until lasting security is achieved.
The visit further boosted morale among personnel at NAF Base Kainji and reinforced the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering determination to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
