The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Ibraheem Mogaji, has reaffirmed that women remain the heartbeat of community intelligence and a critical force in strengthening grassroots security across Nigeria.
The National Chairman made this known at the South East PCRC Women Symposium themed “Reinforcing Security Through Community Engagement.” He was ably represented at the event by the National Organising Chairman, Zone 9 PCRC, Hon. Sir Dr. Collins Ugochukwu Obi, FCAI, PMA (Agu Jesus, Onwa Anambra).
Speaking on behalf of the National Chairman, Dr. Obi said the symposium reflected the strength, voice and strategic importance of communities—particularly women—in building a safer and more resilient Nigeria. He commended the South East PCRC Women for their leadership, dedication and proactive role in community policing and intelligence gathering.
In a press statement, Dr. Obi disclosed that Alhaji Mogaji encouraged women across the zone to register en masse for the forthcoming PCRC leadership training programme scheduled to commence in January, noting that the training would significantly enhance their leadership capacity and effectiveness in community security engagement.
The event witnessed the presence of the Enugu State PCRC Chairman, Pastor Alaribe, alongside the Enugu State Youth Coordinator, Mr. Ugwu, who received and accompanied Dr. Obi to the venue. The Chairman’s entourage was warmly received by the South East PCRC Women Coordinator, Mrs. Chizoba Sandra, and other women leaders from across the zone.
During interviews, members of the South East PCRC Women and the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) offered prayers for the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Ibraheem Mogaji, asking God to grant them long life, good health and divine wisdom in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The organisers expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State—represented by the ACP in charge of UPS—resource persons and members of the public who attended the symposium.
The event ended on a note of thanksgiving, with participants reaffirming their commitment to community-driven security.
