As Agency Destroys Massive Drug Warehouses in Ekiti, Ondo Forests
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded another series of major breakthroughs in its ongoing war against illicit drugs, recovering over 7.6 million pills of tramadol and 76,273.4 kilograms of various strains of cannabis, including Colorado, Loud and Skunk, during coordinated operations across multiple states.
According to Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the operations—based on credible intelligence—also led to the arrest of several members of drug trafficking syndicates linked to the seizures.
Major Tramadol Interceptions Across Delta, Imo, Adamawa
A significant portion of the opioid haul came from Delta State, where a warehouse at Oko Market, Asaba, was raided on Saturday, 6th December 2025.
NDLEA operatives recovered 3,874,000 pills of tramadol (225mg and 100mg), other opioids, and 252.2 litres of codeine syrup.
In Imo State, on Wednesday, 3rd December, operatives on patrol along Orogwe, Onitsha–Owerri Road, intercepted a vehicle conveying 1.2 million tablets of tramadol 225mg. The 35-year-old suspect, Kelechi Nwakocha, reportedly loaded the consignment in Aba, Abia State, en route to Onitsha.
In Adamawa State, NDLEA personnel intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus marked MGU 554 XB along Maraba–Mubi Road on 1st December. A total of 1,577,112 capsules of tramadol and exol-5—concealed inside jumbo bags mixed with new rubber sandals and slippers—were discovered.
Two suspects, Kabiru Buba (25) and Hamza Abubakar (32), were arrested.
Another suspect, Mudansir Rabiu (27), was caught along the Zaria–Kano Road with 197,000 pills of exol-5.
Massive Cannabis Warehouses Destroyed in Ekiti, Ondo Forests
A special operations unit of the NDLEA dismantled major cannabis hubs hidden deep inside forests in Ekiti State.
- In Omuo-Ekiti, 14,654kg of skunk was destroyed and two suspects, Yusuf Iliyasu (50) and Okumu Chinedu (26), were arrested.
- In Asin-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, operatives razed two large drug warehouses containing 54,300kg of skunk, while 28.3kg was preserved as evidence.
In a separate operation on 2nd December, NDLEA operatives raided Igoba Forest, Akure North LGA, Ondo State, recovering:
- 2,483 compressed blocks of skunk, and
- 247 bags of the same,
totalling 5,442kg.
Five suspects were arrested, including Jacob Omodowo (66) and Joy Oluatobi Peace (24).
- In Niger State, 500kg of skunk was found in a Mercedes Benz van along the Mokwa–Jebba Road, with driver Amos Yakubu (46) arrested.
- In the FCT Abuja, operatives seized 22kg of Colorado at Abaji Expressway. A follow-up operation at Jabi Park led to the arrest of a female receiver, Ali Blessing (33).
Another suspect, Aliyu Usman (39), was arrested with 24kg skunk and 573,500 exol-5 pills along the Kwali–Gwagwalada Expressway.
In Lagos:
- 113kg of Canadian Loud was recovered from Ezenwa Udoka at Ladipo Market, Mushin.
- Izuchukwu Usulor was arrested with 351kg of skunk at Onipanu.
- Susan Okoro was nabbed with 104.1kg at Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.
In Edo State, NDLEA recovered 447.5kg of skunk from two Honda Accord cars abandoned in Agho Forest, Akoko Edo LGA, arresting Dada Adedara Babawibi (56).
A raid on a warehouse at Isiefve community, Ohuwunde LGA, led to the seizure of 315.8kg and the arrest of Stanley Obasuwa.
Nationwide WADA Sensitisation Intensifies
Commands nationwide continued War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) outreach programmes in schools, religious centres, workplaces and communities. Benefiting institutions included:
- St. Michael’s Academy, Sabon Gari, Kano
- Harry Pass Secondary School, Gboko LGA, Benue
- Community Junior Secondary School, Okuru-Ama, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), lauded the officers across Delta, Adamawa, Imo, Ondo, Lagos, Kano, FCT, Niger and Edo Commands for their dedication.
He emphasized that their operational achievements, combined with balanced efforts toward supply reduction and demand reduction, continue to strengthen the nation’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
