The House of Representatives member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran broadcaster, Mr. Kola Oladapo, describing his passing as a painful loss to the media industry and Nigeria as a whole.
In a condolence message made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday, Akande-Sadipe said Oladapo was more than a broadcaster, noting that he was a consummate professional whose voice, insight and commitment to ethical journalism helped shape public discourse and inspired generations of media practitioners.
According to her, Oladapo’s immense contributions to broadcasting earned him respect across professional and social divides.
The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Humanitarian Services, recalled the late broadcaster’s passion and support for her political journey, stressing that his work strengthened democracy and consistently gave a voice to the voiceless.
She said Oladapo’s calm but firm delivery, combined with his depth of knowledge, distinguished him as one of the most dependable and respected voices in the broadcast space.
Akande-Sadipe extended her heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late broadcaster, urging them to find comfort in the impactful life he lived and the indelible legacy he left behind.
She prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
While noting that Mr. Kola Oladapo may be gone, the lawmaker said his contributions to the media profession and the values he stood for would continue to resonate for years to come.
“Nigeria has lost an icon,” she said, “but his voice will never be forgotten.”
