The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stepped up its intelligence-led counterterrorism operations, delivering a series of decisive air interdictions that dismantled key terror strongholds and neutralised scores of insurgents across Katsina and Borno States. The Video below:
The latest strikes, conducted on 27 November 2025, highlight the Service’s deepening reliance on real-time intelligence and joint operations to suppress violent extremist groups.
In Katsina State, NAF aircraft under OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2 executed two high-impact strikes targeting notorious terror cells. According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the first strike at about 0630 hours hit a fortified camp belonging to a high-profile terrorist kingpin responsible for serial kidnappings, deadly attacks and widespread rustling operations spanning Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi LGAs.
Backed by continuous Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), the precision engagement destroyed the hideout and enabled follow-on strikes against fleeing fighters.
A second airstrike at about 1755 hours struck another major enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, eliminating logistics hubs, operational structures, equipment and other assets critical to the terrorists’ activities. Several insurgents were neutralised during the sustained operations, further weakening criminal networks and denying them safe havens across the North-West.
In the North-East, NAF air assets again played a decisive role as troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4 OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK), repelled a coordinated multi-directional attack by ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters on Chibok, Borno State.
In response, NAF aircraft conducted four major strikes on regrouping insurgents attempting to escape, based on real-time intelligence from ground forces. Additional precision engagements targeted fleeing fighters, disrupting their movement and crippling their ability to reorganise for further attacks.
The synchronized air–ground operations inflicted substantial casualties on the terrorists while safeguarding communities and preventing an escalation of hostilities.
These successful missions reinforce the NAF’s commitment to delivering surgical, intelligence-driven operations aimed at restoring peace and protecting citizens. The Service reaffirmed its resolve to continue working alongside ground troops and sister security agencies until every part of the country is secure.
