In a major stride towards strengthening national security, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has graduated 325 officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Basic Course 20/2025. The training, held at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, ran from October 12 to November 7, 2025.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed in a statement from Force Headquarters, Abuja, that the intensive four-week course was designed to enhance the operational capacity of officers in detecting, handling, and neutralizing threats associated with explosive ordnance, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and hazardous materials of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear origin.
Representing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, at the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in charge of EOD-CBRN Command, CP Hauwa Ibrahim, commended the officers for their discipline, teamwork, and commitment.
She emphasized that the programme underscores the IGP’s vision to professionalize and modernize the Force through continuous capacity development and strategic training initiatives.
The IGP, in his message, lauded the collaboration of national and international partners who contributed to the success of the course. These include the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), The HALO Trust, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
He also acknowledged the support of internal stakeholders such as the Force Medical Services, the Forensics Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
Dr. Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to continuous professional development and the protection of lives and property. He assured Nigerians that the newly trained officers will play a pivotal role in enhancing counter-terrorism operations, improving public safety, and fortifying the nation’s security architecture against emerging threats.
