Security operatives have arrested four suspects linked to the abduction of two Catholic priests from St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to security sources, the kidnappers — all local Christians — were led by the parish’s financial secretary, who allegedly masterminded the abduction and coordinated ransom negotiations. The gang had demanded a ransom of ₦25 million for the release of the clerics.
The two priests were abducted during a late-night attack on the parish but were later freed following intensified efforts by security agencies and community vigilantes.
Authorities say the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while further investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional accomplices and motives behind the shocking conspiracy.
The Diocese is yet to release an official statement on the arrests, but parishioners have expressed relief and called for justice to deter future attacks on religious leaders in the state.
