The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Oluremi Ayobami Fadairo, has concluded his maiden operational tour of formations, units, and schools under the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), with a strong call for enhanced inter-agency collaboration to address security challenges in the South East.
The visit, which covered 13 and 14 Brigades as well as key military establishments within the region, also featured a courtesy call on the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex C. Otti.
In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, the GOC’s tour underscored his commitment to operational excellence, improved welfare, and strengthened civil–military relations.
During his meeting with Governor Otti and heads of security agencies at the Abia State Government House, Major General Fadairo advocated for a regional joint security summit involving state governors and heads of security outfits. According to him, such a platform will deepen synergy and bolster collective efforts against emerging and persistent threats in the South East.
He assured the Governor of the Nigerian Army’s renewed strategies aimed at consolidating operational gains and reinvigorating ongoing security operations. Major General Fadairo also appreciated the Governor’s unwavering support to the Division and other security agencies.
At 13 Brigade, the GOC commended the leadership and troops for their operational effectiveness, noting that their performance reflects the Nigerian Army’s renewed drive for professionalism and joint-force readiness.
He commissioned several projects executed under the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General M. O. Ibrahim, including the newly built General O. O. Oluyede Hall and two blocks of Soldiers’ Transit Accommodation. He described the initiatives as commendable strides toward enhancing troops’ welfare and urged officers to emulate such visionary leadership.
At 14 Brigade, Major General Fadairo encouraged troops to remain steadfast, patriotic, and focused on eliminating residual criminal activities within their AOR. He emphasized the importance of respecting law-abiding citizens and working closely with other security agencies to maintain peace and order.
The GOC also conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General W. Shaibu NAM, to Brigade Commander Brigadier General H. M. Bello and other officers within the Division.
He praised their success in degrading separatist groups and criminal elements across the region.
Major General Fadairo reiterated the COAS’s commitment to troops’ welfare during service and after retirement, charging them to remain loyal to the Commander-in-Chief and give their utmost in service to the nation.
