The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Friday, 31st October 2025, decorated fourteen newly promoted officers of the Command during a brief but colourful ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Awka.
The event also featured the unveiling of the newly renovated Commissioner of Police Hall, a project graciously facilitated through the goodwill of His Royal Highness Otonye Efebo, PhD (Shidi VII), the Amadabo of Shidi-Ama in Twon Brass, Bayelsa State.
The project, which was undertaken as a gesture of community partnership, underscores the enduring collaboration between traditional institutions and the Nigeria Police Force in advancing community-oriented policing.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, CP Orutugu charged them to see their elevation as a call to greater service, renewed discipline, and enhanced professionalism in their duties.
He noted that promotion in the Force is not only a reward for hard work and commitment but also a responsibility to perform at a higher level.
The Commissioner of Police also expressed deep appreciation to HRH Otonye Efebo for his benevolent contribution to the Command, describing it as an act of patriotism and an investment in security development. He added that the renovated hall would serve as a modern facility for strategic meetings, trainings, and conferences, thereby improving the operational efficiency of the Command.
In his remarks, HRH Otonye Efebo, who was on a courtesy visit to CP Orutugu—one of his subjects from the Brass Kingdom in Bayelsa State—commended the Police Chief for his exemplary leadership, community engagement, and commitment to maintaining peace and security across Anambra State. The Royal Father reaffirmed his readiness to continue supporting the Nigeria Police Force in initiatives that promote peace, security, and public trust.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the newly decorated officers include:
- CSP Ikpeama Joy Chidimma, DPO Main Market
- CSP Asso Emmanuel Agbuka, DPO Amanuke
- CSP Nuhu Azeez, Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector
- CSP Onyilo Thaddeus, Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Onitsha Sector
and ten (10) other senior officers.
Highlights of the ceremony included the decoration of the officers, the unveiling of the renovated hall, and a group photograph with dignitaries, senior officers, family members of the promotees, and invited guests.
