The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to intensify their search-and-rescue efforts for students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The directive was issued on Monday, 17 November 2025, during his operational visit to the state, according to a statement by Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

While addressing frontline commanders and troops, Lt Gen Shaibu emphasized the need for intelligence-led operations and sustained pressure on the abductors. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he said.

The COAS also met with local vigilantes and hunters, acknowledging their role as vital partners in the ongoing operation.

He urged them to work closely with troops, using their deep knowledge of the terrain to help track and dismantle criminal elements. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he assured.

Earlier in the day, Gen Shaibu visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, where he reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safely rescuing the abducted students.

He charged troops to remain resilient, disciplined, and professional, stressing adherence to the rules of engagement while maintaining an unrelenting focus on restoring peace in Kebbi State and neighbouring areas.
