The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has commended the Anambra State Police Command for its effective security preparations and described the ongoing Anambra State governorship election as peaceful and largely hitch-free.

Speaking shortly after casting her vote at about 12:25 p.m. at Polling Unit 001, Ward 2, located within the premises of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Okpuno-Egbu, Umudim Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu commended the orderly conduct of the exercise.

She noted that reports from her monitoring visit to several polling units in Uruagu Ward 2 also indicated smooth and peaceful proceedings, with voters freely exercising their civic responsibility.

The minister lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what she termed a “satisfactory and commendable performance,” emphasizing that the efficiency of officials and the peaceful atmosphere reflected progress in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Ahead of the official announcement of results, Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu appealed to all contestants to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

According to her, “What matters most is that the people of Anambra State have the opportunity to choose a governor who will truly serve their collective interest and advance the state’s development.”
