The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.58% per cent of the results from the Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), signaling steady progress in the electronic transmission of results.
ON the IReV portal at 8:22 p.m. on Saturday revealed that results from 5,639 out of 5,720 polling units where voting took place had been successfully uploaded.
The development comes less than six hours after the close of polls across the 21 local government areas of the state, reflecting what observers describe as an improvement in INEC’s result management process.
INEC had earlier assured voters that results would be progressively collated and transmitted directly from polling units to enhance transparency and allow citizens real-time access to election data.
As of the time of filing this report, collation officers were still receiving and verifying results at ward and local government collation centres. Security operatives maintained a strong presence around these centres to ensure orderliness and the credibility of the process.
Election observers commended the commission’s prompt result uploads, describing the move as a positive indicator of growing efficiency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral system.
“The speed of result transmission this time is encouraging and enhances public confidence in the process,” said one accredited observer who monitored the exercise in Awka South.
The Anambra governorship election is being closely watched as a test of INEC’s technological reforms and its readiness for broader national polls in the future.
