Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area, following a swift and decisive response by forces on ground, supported by reinforcements from the 29 Task Force Brigade.

In a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the terrorists launched a fierce assault employing Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) targeting troops and military platforms.

Despite the intensity of the confrontation, the troops held their positions and responded with superior firepower, inflicting significant casualties on the terrorists. Unfortunately, four soldiers were killed in action (KIA), while five others sustained injuries (WIA). Additionally, some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Gun Trucks (GTs) were damaged during the engagement.

The terrorists, in a bid to delay reinforcements and cause further harm, planted multiple IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR). This prompted a temporary closure of the route as military engineers swiftly moved in to clear three IED-laden points. Following successful clearance operations, the MSR has been reopened to both military and civilian movement.

To sustain the momentum of the operation, troops were immediately resupplied with critical logistics, including MRAP tyres and ammunition, ensuring full mobility and continued pursuit of the fleeing terrorists. Credible intelligence sources indicate that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties, with reports suggesting mass burials of about 15 bodies around Bula Wura near Wasaram.

As part of efforts to consolidate on operational gains, the 29 Task Force Brigade has launched fighting patrols and exploitation operations aimed at denying the terrorists freedom of action and ensuring the area remains secure.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba commended the gallantry and resilience of the troops, assuring the public that normalcy has been restored and that ongoing operations will continue to maintain peace and security in Ngamdu and surrounding areas.
