Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have intensified their operations against terrorists and other criminal elements in Taraba State, achieving significant success during ongoing clearance operations codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
According to a statement from the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops on October 14, 2025, launched a series of clearance missions in Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists in the area.
Acting swiftly, the troops raided suspected hideouts around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages. During the operation at Badekoshi, they made contact with the terrorists, who fled under the soldiers’ superior firepower. The troops pursued the fleeing elements into nearby forests, dislodging them from their positions.
A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and a Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen in a previous attack at Tapga village.
The Commander of 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements are neutralized in Taraba State.
He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that the ongoing operations will continue until peace is fully restored across the state.
