The Nigerian Army (NA) has inaugurated the 2025 Master Warrant Officer (MWO) to Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Promotion Board at the Federal Road Safety Academy, Udi, Enugu State.
Declaring the exercise open, the Chief of Personnel Management (Army), Major General AA Adekeye, charged all candidates to remain disciplined, focused, and committed throughout the process. He noted that the annual board exercise is designed to assess the suitability of candidates for elevation to the rank of AWO across formations and units through a rigorous and merit-driven evaluation.
According to the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Major General Adekeye highlighted the assessment components, which include drill, weapon handling, current affairs, general service knowledge, oral interviews, physical fitness tests, and medical examinations.
He assured participants that credible and impartial officers have been selected to ensure fairness, transparency, and merit-based recommendations. The senior officer also urged candidates to prioritize safety and well-being throughout the demanding two-week exercise.
He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede (NAM), for providing the necessary resources to ensure a successful board, and commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division for providing suitable facilities to support a smooth and comfortable process.
In his welcome remarks, the GOC 82 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force South East (Operation UDO KA), Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, welcomed the CPM and board members while reaffirming the Division’s commitment to an objective and professional promotion process.
“I am convinced by your pedigree that you will employ meritocracy as the yardstick for recommending suitable candidates for promotion,” he stated.
Major General Olatoye thanked the COAS for his visionary leadership and for selecting 82 Division as host for the 2025 board. He urged candidates to give their best, remain prayerful, and uphold Nigerian Army values, emphasizing that promotion is not merely about wearing a higher rank but signifies recognition of dedication, trustworthiness, and confidence reposed in personnel.
The 2025 MWO–AWO Promotion Board has now commenced its evaluation phase in line with established standards and timelines.
