The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has applauded the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for securing the hosting rights of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), describing it as a major milestone that reinforces Nigeria’s growing prominence on the global stage.
Ambassador Tuggar, who was represented by Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson of the Ministry, delivered the goodwill message during the formal unveiling of the WPRF at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre, Abuja, on Monday, 20 October 2025.
He noted that the choice of Abuja as the host city for the 2026 edition of the global communication summit was a recognition of Nigeria’s vibrant democracy, dynamic economy, and commitment to constructive dialogue both within Africa and the wider international community.
“The hosting of the WPRF in Abuja is a powerful testament to Nigeria’s growing stature on the world stage. It reflects our unyielding commitment to fostering open communication, collaboration, and shared progress,” he said.
The Minister emphasized that strategic communication remains central to addressing contemporary global challenges, driving economic diplomacy, and promoting mutual understanding among nations.
He further stated that hosting the global forum aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s foreign policy thrust built on the 4Ds — Demography, Democracy, Development, and Diaspora — under the current administration, adding that the event would help project Nigeria as a premier destination for investment, tourism, and international engagement.
Ambassador Tuggar also highlighted the opportunities the WPRF 2026 would present in showcasing Africa’s narrative, fostering global partnerships, and promoting Nigerian excellence.
“The Forum will be an avenue to display our world-class infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and renowned hospitality to an influential international audience,” he said.
He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working closely with NIPR and other relevant agencies, is committed to facilitating a seamless and successful hosting, including smooth visa processing for international participants.
Concluding his message, the Minister extended an open invitation to the global public relations community, urging them to prepare for an unforgettable experience in Nigeria.
“Abuja 2026 will be more than just a venue; it will be a crucible for new ideas, a marketplace for innovation, and a celebration of the power of communication to change our world for the better,” he affirmed.
The 2026 World Public Relations Forum is scheduled to take place in November 2026 in Abuja, bringing together leading communication professionals, academics, and policymakers from across the world.
