In celebration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, the National President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), Architect (Dr.) Rakiya Abubakar, has charged students of the Air Force Girls’ Secondary School (AFGSS), Abuja, to pursue excellence and aspire to become purpose-driven women who will make meaningful contributions to society.
Dr. Abubakar made the call during an inspiring session with the students, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and confident in their abilities as they chart paths toward future leadership.
Representing the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, the Director of Human Rights and Gender Affairs, Air Commodore Elisha Bindul, also encouraged the students to uphold virtue, hard work, and self-belief.
He described the girl child as “a beacon of hope and transformation for the nation,” emphasizing that every girl possesses the power to influence positive change.
The event, themed around empowering girls through education and values, underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to supporting the girl child through mentorship, value-based education, and leadership development initiatives.
Through platforms like this, NAFOWA continues to champion causes that nurture confidence, excellence, and integrity in young girls, ensuring they are well-prepared to take on future challenges and contribute meaningfully to national development.
